Barker Spring / Summer 2020 Boot Collection

No matter the season there’s always a reason to wear a pair of Barker boots which is why it’s a staple across the range especially in the Country, Creative and Professional collections.

Several key menswear boots including the Brogue, Hiker, Chelsea and Chukka Boots feature in the Spring / Summer 2020 collection. Made from premium European leather and hardwearing suedes with a variety of functional soles including Dainite and Vibram.

An English classic, the Brogue boot dates back to the start of the 19th century. The Calder Brogue boot is a Barker staple in the Country collection, made from premium calf leather on a durable Danite sole, this Goodyear-welted boot is hardwearing and long lasting.
Depending on the occasion you’ll find a classic Chelsea boot a trusted companion as they’re versatile and can be worn with both formal and casual wardrobes. The Chelsea boots origins has Victorian roots as its design and invention is attributed to J. Sparkes-Hall, a boot maker for Queen Victoria but its name is thanks to the styles association with the King's Road, a street that runs between Chelsea and Fulham.
In the 1950s, the close-fitting, ankle-high boot became a cultural icon in Swinging London worn by the likes of The Rolling Stones and The Beatles.
The Barker Bedale is a classic Goodyear-welted Chelsea boot, made from high grade polished leather with a full leather sole.
One of Barker’s most popular boots happens to be a stylish Chelsea boot called Mansfield. Goodyear-welted and made from luxurious calf leather and burnished suedes with a choice of full leather of British Dainite rubber soles.
For a creative take on a classic there is Hopper, made from premium calf leather with a contrast elastic gusset fo playful detailing while keeping a elegant profile.
A new addition to the Barker boot collection for Spring / Summer 2020, Freddie is a casual Chelsea boot made from soft suede on a crepe sole, ideally worn with denim jeans or chinos for a relaxed outfit.
Another menswear icon is the Chukka boot, a versatile ankle-high boot originating from the desert boots originally worn by British soldiers in the Western Desert Campaign of World War II.  An British icon thanks to Clarks Originals, the Chukka boot is easily dressed up or down but with the Barker Orkney boot, we’d recommend denim jeans or chinos due to its rugged aesthetic. Made from grained leather with a Dainite sole, the Orkney is a effortless all-year-round boot option.
After World War I, people found themselves with more free time and outdoor pursuits became popular which brings us to the Hiking boot. From the cobblers in northern Italy began tailoring boots to hikers to Giancarlo Tanzi who invented the first trekking boots using Cordura materials in 1975. The Hiker boot wasn’t invented but style thats evolved for its purpose.
The Barker Glencoe boot is our version of the hiker boot, a versatile outdoor boot made from grained leather and burnished suedes with a ultra lightweight Vibram sole.
